Seminar B: Age-Related Continence Education

This workshop outlines some of the medical conditions and surgical procedures that may contribute to incontinence and looks at the types of medications that adversely affect continence. It outlines the impacts of mobility and cognition on continence, identifies the physiological changes to the urinary tract during ageing, outlines the impact of illness and disease upon the elderly and also highlights the effect of medications on the bladder and bowel.

Seminar C: Specific Conditions Affecting Continence

This workshop defines the types of dementia and describes the ways in which dementia affects function and cognition, the main causes of strokes and outlines the parts of the brain that may be affected and how this may lead to incontinence. It discusses the relationship between falls prevention and continence management and explains the causes of urinary tract infections and describes the preventative measures for prone persons.

Seminar D: Basic Introduction to Continence Management

This workshop identifies those at risk of developing incontinence and helps to identify the factors that are needed to maintain continence. This workshop also looks at the importance of toileting programs and identifies continence goals and helps to identify possible causes of continence-related skin problems.
